It’s hard to come up with the first words for a site. That’s why I broke the ice with a post from my last site! That post was the inspiration for this site. I’ve been blogging on and off about sports for the last four years. Lately, I’ve struggled to find any interesting topics to write about. Part of it was time restrictions, but also the generic nature of sports opinions. I didn’t feel I was sharing anything people didn’t already know.
Music feels different. At the end of every year, I would write a post about the music I found on that site. It was my favorite post and by the end of that site it was the only post I made sure to write. I love finding new music. Everybody is different, but I hate listening to the same song twice in a day and I rarely listen to a song twice in the same week. That requires a lot of music. Thanks to technology, we live in a world where you can sort through millions of tracks everyday. The trick is finding the music you like. I love the process of music discovery. There’s nothing better than that first listen of song that just hits you in the gut emotionally. Music is there for me no matter the emotional state I’m in. There’s few things I can say that about. I believe there is no such thing as too many opinions on music. We all have different tastes, but I love using everyone’s different preferences to help me find new/different things to listen too.
I do not have a hard format setup for this site yet, but it was time to kick this thing off. It’s way too easy to procrastinate. My plans for now are to post on a monthly basis. If I get aggressive we’ll bump it up to weekly. I’m planning to talk about my favorite albums at the moment and songs that are catching my ear. These songs will probably tie into my song of the day tweets I’m posting. I also plan to continue with my annual reviews. Listing my favorite albums and songs for the year.
I look forward to sharing some great music with you. Prepare to hear music from all the genres including: Rock, Hip Hop, Country, Pop and Classical. This site may bias towards indie rock/folk music, but I’ll do my best recognize my favorite work from all the genres. The best part about music communities is the constant journeys we are on. There’s never enough music. There’s so many artists pushing the boundaries, making things we never imagined. It’s our job to find them. I look forward to helping you in that process. Now let’s play some music!
